More Quality Is Needed

There is a difference between the success and failure of many schools.  They lack a broad curriculum for all students.  They lack the philosophy that all students can learn. Professional development is not provided for all staff members. Data on assessment is not reviewed and shared.

Administration

Administrators must help teachers develop instructional strategies. Teaching methods must be current.  They need to encourage teamwork within the school community. They have resources available to students and teachers.  They understand the need for additional support staff.  Administrators encourage teachers to mentor and teach each other. They maintain discipline in order to foster the best learning environment for the school.

Counselors

Quality schools have counselors who know the community.  They understand the school’s strengths, assets, and goals.  Counselors act as a bridge with staff, students, and parents.  They assist in the testing and evaluation process.  They share data.

Good schools have an access to other supports to help meet the needs of all students.  They include psychologists, doctors, nurses, attendance coordinators, child abuse counselors, and bilingual assistants.  These supports may not be in the school on a daily basis, but are available when necessary.  Quality schools are the beginning of a lifetime of educational enjoyment for all students.
