Children need noticed by their parents and teachers. As this is not given, children act out and create drama. Children like to push the line in the sand further away as they seek attention. They depend on adults. Therefore, they do what they can to get the affection they need.

Good or Bad Attention

Children are effective in behavior that leads adults to look. Their actions mean they need something. As the need is not met, children misbehave.

The attention seeking habits are many. In addition, children will use them all in order to get what they want.

• They make loud demands or comments

• A response to an adult request is negative.

• Children respond to requests late or never at all.

• At school, they do not stay in their seat or area.

• If they have siblings, they continuously argue or fight with them.

• Also, children ask many unnecessary questions to get a response.

Other actions may occur such as swearing or dressing themselves in attention-getting clothing.

Reasons For Bad Performances

Children that feel they are invisible must prove to adults by an act that gets them attention. Social relationships make them lack confidence. In addition, they lack confidence in the academics at school.

Solution

Attention is the main solution. Also, reinforce and praise good behavior.

• Spent time with the individual child. This means, no television, no texting, no phone calls, etc. Mostly, talk. Have meaningful conversations. Don’t lecture.

• Discuss the many ways to achieve academic success.

• Model good social behavior. In addition, expect the child to respond at social functions with good behavior.

• Use positive words.

• Help children meet success in the chores and activities.

Children looking for attention is annoying to everyone. However, in young children, it is normal and will pass. A parent’s love, and a teacher’s support helps children grow out of this stage of development.
